Commission to undertake extensive building-wide artwork installation at The Exchange Building at Colworth Science Park, a joint venture between Unilever plc and Goodman plc.
End-to-End 2-year project included: concept planning, artwork creation from my original © photography developed onsite, artwork production and installation liaison.
Twenty-two artworks spread across large, wall-mounted, acrylic panels and full-height vinyl graphics.
Theme: Abstraction of innovative processes and machinery undertaken at Unilever’s R&D site. Centred around ice cream and tea production methods and popular brands such as Magnum and Lipton’s.
Over a number of days I was allowed access to a variety of restricted spaces to create source imagery from what I saw. Details of machines and natural products in various stages of development and testing.
From there I created a number of abstract and bold artworks from selected images; adding colour and texture to patterns and shapes I observed and photographed which remained unaltered. All artworks are single images with no digital compositing so each can trace a path back to one source; adding a story to what at first glance is random patterns.
A booklet was also produced to accompany the installation, telling the story behind the artwork for both education and appreciation.
